Hughes latest absentee from Irish derby

Richard Hughes has become the third high-profile jockey to miss next week's Bubweiser Irish Derby due to suspension. Hughes was peanlised by the Royal Ascot stewards for careless riding on board the Barry Hills-trained Lapwing in the final race of the day, the Britannia Handicap.

The officials decided that Lapwing interfered with Definite Guest and Nose The Trade shortly after the start of the one-mile event and have handed Hughes a three-day ban which will run from June 30 until July 2.
