Davids Lad completes hat-trick at Navan

Davids Lad yesterday topped off a memorable season by completing a hat-trick for trainer Tony Martin with a win in the £30,000 EBF Novice handicap Chase Final at Navan. Following his impressive victory in the Powers Irish Grand National, the 5-4 favourite yesterday proved it was no fluke with a wonderful run down the home straight to win by seven lengths from Ceoil Agus Craic, who led for most of the way in the four-runner event. Davids Lad has now won nine races and Martin is already planning next season's campaign.

"He's going on his holidays and we will bring him in for an autumn campaign, probably missing out on the winter months, and we will look at something during the Cheltenham meeting in November for him," he revealed.

Meanwhile, Norman Williamson's fall at Aintree on Friday which left him watching from the sidelines this weekend cost him two winners for the Edward O'Grady stable. Garrett Cotter replaced Williamson on board 7-1 newcomer Clooneen in the second division of the maiden hurdle while Never More won the Beginners' Chase with champion jockey Barry Geraghty taking over in the saddle.
