Rocastle's son to lead out Gunners

The son of the late David Rocastle will lead out Arsenal at the FA Cup Final against Liverpool in Cardiff next month. Nine-year-old Ryan Rocastle has been chosen as the club's mascot for the prestigious match at the Millennium Stadium on May 12 to honour the memory of his father, a former Arsenal star who won championship medals with the Gunners in 1989 and 1991. Rocastle, who also played for Leeds, Chelsea and Manchester City during his career, died of cancer three weeks ago.

Arsenal have also invited Rocastle's wife Janet and their other children, five-year-old Monique and 12-year-old Melissa, to be their guests at the game. "We are very appreciative of Arsenal's gesture, to make Ryan the mascot, and also the club's attitude towards the family since David's death," Mrs Rocastle told the Daily Telegraph. "Ryan is very excited and looking forward to the day, as we all are," she added. (PA)
