Agent - Rivaldo set for England switch talks

Barcelona star Rivaldo could be on the verge of moving to the English Premiership, it was claimed today. Representatives from the Catalan giants will be in England on Thursday for a meeting with an unnamed club to discuss a bid for the Brazilian midfielder, who has been linked to English champions Manchester United in the past.

The claim was made on Canal 33's Gol a Gol by Josep Guardiola's agent Josep Maria Orobitg. Orobitg was defending Guardiola's decision to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season.

"Do you think that Rivaldo is going to continue at Barcelona?" he said. "I'm saying that because next Thursday, there will be a meeting with a very important English club which is going to propose the signing of Rivaldo to representatives of Barcelona."

Rivaldo, who signed a new deal with Barcelona last summer, has a £60million buy-out clause in his contract. (PA)
