Irish F3 racer confident of top Snetterton showing

After a weekend of mixed fortunes at Silverstone, venue of the opening two rounds of the British F3 Championship a fortnight ago, F3 Scholarship title hopeful Michael Keohane is confident of converting his pre-season form into a top result this weekend when the series resumes at Snetterton.

Driving for Irish team Meritus Racing, the 20-year-old opened his F3 account with a strong drive to second having started ninth and looked on target for a win in Round 2 when on lap 5 he spun out off the track while holding a comfortable lead. A reading from the telemetry on his Toyota powered Dallara F398 showed that the promising Irish racer had braked at the same point as his previous laps leading to suspicion that debris had cost him an almost certain first win.

Currently fourth in the standings for the F3 Scholarship Class, the Irish Cement backed driver will be looking to put in a strong performance this Thursday when teams take part in an official F3 test day at the Norfolk circuit. Commenting ahead of the weekends racing Michael said, "We had a mixed weekend at Silverstone but still came away with a podium result, this weekend we want to make that two". He continued, "Snetterton is a track I like and have been quickest on before in testing so things are looking good for the weekend."

Part of the high profile British PowerTour Series, this weekend's Snetterton meeting is the venue for rounds three & four of the 26 round Green Flag British F3 Championship. Two separate 30 minute qualifying sessions on Saturday will determine Michael's grid position for each of Sunday's two 20-minute races.
