New Zealand win Hong Kong Sevens

New Zealand retained their Hong Kong Sevens title today when they easily overcame Fiji 29-5. This is the eighth occasion the Kiwis have been successful in this tournament and, this time around, it was a blistering first half performance which secured victory.

After suffering the disappointment of being knocked out by Fiji in the quarter-finals of February's round of the World Sevens Series, New Zealand enjoyed their revenge today, which leaves them in the lead overall in the Series, two points ahead of Fiji.

The Kiwis scored all of their 29 points in the first half. Their five tries came from Chris Masoe, Jared Going (with two), Hayden Reid and Johnny Leo'o. Fiji's consolation try came from Jovesa Matakasa, a minute from the end, but it was no more than they deserved as they looked vastly inferior to this New Zealand side. (PA)
