Connolly and Cunningham return

watch

Mick McCarthy confirmed David Connolly's starting position against Cyprus when he announced his side this evening. The Feyenoord striker will definitely take his place alongside Robbie Keane in the absence of Niall Quinn, while there is no place for Manchester City centre-back Richard Dunne, who has had to make way for Kenny Cunningham, who returns after a long time out through injury.

Elsewhere, the side picks itself, with Jason McAteer keeping his place on the right hand side of midfield and Kevin Kilbane on the left. Gary Kelly replaces the injured Stephen Carr at right back as expected, while nephew Ian Harte assumes his usual position on the left. Roy Keane captains the team, while Mark Kinsella partners him in the centre of midfield. Newcastle United's Shay Given replaces the out of favour Alan Kelly in goal.

The full team is:

Shay Given, Gary Kelly, Ian Harte, Gary Breen, Kenny Cunningham, Roy Keane, Jason McAteer, Mark Kinsella, David Connolly, Robbie Keane, Kevin Kilbane.
