Cink holds two-shot advantage
Saturday, 3 March 2001 18:33Stewart Cink did not drop a shot in his second successive round to take two-stroke lead at the half-way stage of the US PGA Tour's $4.5 million Genuity Championship yesterday. Cink currently lies on 14 under par after rounds of 64 and 66. Fellow American Hal Sutton (66) and Canadian Mike Weir (70) were tied for second on 12 under, with Australians Greg Chalmers (66) and Robert Allenby (67) a further shot behind.
Cink, ranked 34th on the money list and a former two-time winner on the USPGA Tour is confident his good form can continue until the completion of the tournament. "I am hitting the ball pretty close to where I am looking, my putts are starting pretty close to where I am looking, so I do not see why I cannot keep going," he said.
Eighty players made the cut at the half-way stage but Ireland's Richie Coughlan failed to make it to the weekend stages after he shot a second round of 74 to leave him at two over for the tournament and five shots off the cut-off point.
