Keohane shines in F3 testing

Top Irish international racing driver Michael Keohane had a confidence-boosting start to his F3 campaign last week when he was quickest in testing at both Donington Park and Thruxton. The 20-year-old, who is to compete in the Scholarship class of the British F3 Championship this season, lapped under the qualifying times set by 2000 champion Gary Paffett.

Driving for Irish team Meritus Racing, the former Irish Kart Champion from Clonakilty, has settled in well with his new team. "Putting in times quicker than those set by Gary (Paffett) last year so early on is really encouraging. The team have been great and I think that we can be a very competitive force in the battle for Scholarship honours," he said.

Keohane is to conduct a further two days of testing this week at Silverstone, venue of the first of 27 races which includes a supporting race at the British Grand Prix in July.
