Celtic land tough cup draw
Sunday, 18 February 2001 22:29Celtic will play host to either Dundee or Hearts in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, providing they can overcome Dunfermline in a replay. Martin O'Neill's side, who could only draw 2-2 with the First Division outfit at East End park yesterday, will face another tough outing with the winners of the all-Premier Division clash rivals.
Meanwhile, Dundee United manager Alex Smith insists Rangers will not risk any complacency when they travel to Tannadice in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals. The Light Blues struggled to overcome First Division Ross County at Victoria Park tonight before being paired with United in the last eight. Tore Andre Flo netted twice in a hard fought 3-2 victory which comes in quick succession to their two Old Firm defeats in the last ten days.
But Smith, who saw his side run out comfortable 2-0 winners at Motherwell on Saturday, maintains the cup holders will be better prepared for next month's tie. Smith said: "It is a great draw for us, a home draw. It is a difficult tie but it is one that we are capable of winning. They had to fight and scrap every bit of the way to get a result. But I do not see them being as complacent as that against us. I expect them to be lesss fragile when the game comes round."
Elsewhere, the winners of Livingston and Aberdeen meet Peterhead, while Hibernian must also wait until next week before discovering whether they have to travel to Inverness or Kilmarnock in their quarter-final.
