Gary Neville charged with misconduct

Manchester United defender Gary Neville was charged with misconduct by the English Football Association (FA) today following Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round defeat by West Ham. The England international was involved in a confrontation with match officials near the players' tunnel after the 1-0 loss.

An FA spokesman said today that the player was alleged to have used foul and abusive language. If found guilty Neville could be banned for three games. He has 14 days to appeal for a personal hearing.

United manager Alex Ferguson said Neville was angry because not enough stoppage time had been played at the end of the game. "Gary was going on about time added on," Ferguson was quoted as saying in the Sun newspaper on Monday.
