Swansea objection falls on deaf ears
Tuesday, 17 October 2000 20:38Swansea were today told their citings against three Stade Francais players will not be heard. European Rugby Cup Limited have informed Swansea they did not supply sufficient data with their claims, which followed Saturday's bruising Heineken Cup clash.
But although the Welsh club failed to comply with tournament regulations in their citing procedure, the cases brought by Stade Francais against two Swansea players were properly lodged and will be heard later this week.
Swansea had yesterday made an instant response after the French champions cited Welsh international forwards Garin Jenkins and Andy Moore. The Welsh side reported Stade Francais trio Diego Dominguez, Fabrice Landreau and David Auradou. Italian Test fly-half Dominguez was involved in the incident that led to Swansea's Welsh international flanker Colin Charvis being sent off for punching, for which he subsequently received a two-match ban.
Swansea singled-out Dominguez for kicking Charvis, while hooker Landreau had been pinpointed for allegedly stamping on Tyrone Maullin and then punching Moore. Auradou was named for kicking Maullin.
Swansea won the game 18-16, preserving their 100% record in Pool Two, with fly-half Arwell Thomas kicking all 18 points.
