Snooker: O'Sullivan plants another 147

Ronnie O'Sullivan will need an extension to his garage after another maximum performance at the Regal Scottish Open in Aberdeen this afternoon. O'Sullivan compiled a brilliant 147 break in the fourth frame of his last 32 match against Australian Quinten Hann, and his second maximum of the season earned him £5,000 plus a Vauxhall car worth £20,000. He already collected the keys to another new motor for his 147 against Graeme Dott at the Grand Prix in Preston last October. It took O'Sullivan just six minutes 40 seconds to pot 15 reds, 15 blacks and all the colours for the fourth maximum of his career. O'Sullivan went on to win 5-4.

Earlier Ken Doherty's eyes were turning black and blue after his Regal Scottish Open title hopes were almost shattered by a glass door. The lucky Dubliner escaped with a cut nose and bruising after running into the door on the eve of his fourth-round game against stablemate Gary Wilkinson. Despite this Doherty was victorious by 5 frames to 2 and now plays Anthony Hamilton in the last 16.

"It looks like I've been a few rounds with Mike Tyson," grinned Doherty following the victory over the former World Matchplay champion. Doherty took a 2-0 lead and then made a break of 107 after his opponent opened his account in frame three. Wilkinson slugged it out to win the fifth frame before Doherty's second century.

Fergal O'Brien reached the last 16 last night following a 5-2 win over James Wattana.
