Snooker: Neal Foulds has to work hard to make Sheffield

Teenager Ryan Day returns to Preston tomorrow morning requiring just four more frames to defeat former world number three Neal Foulds in the Embassy World Championship qualifiers. The 19-year-old Welshman, whose brother Rhys is a regular in Manchester City's reserve side, took a 6-3 first-session lead over the experienced Londoner at the Guild Hall tonight. With 10 more frames up for grabs Day is well on his way to taking another step closer to a Crucible Theatre debut at Sheffield next month.

Also on course for the final stages is Stephen Hendry's talented young stablemate Stephen Maguire, who practises regularly with the seven-times world title holder, and is 7-2 up on Chester's Nick Walker.
