The Road To Croker

Series returns Thursday 17 July

When: Thursday 8.30pm

Repeat: Friday 11.35pm

Watch the show via the RTÉ.ie GAA Media player

Following the hugely successful series last year, The Road to Croker with Des Cahill returns to RTÉ Two this summer. Des and his team will be at the front line of the action providing an entertaining cocktail of review and analysis, discussion and debate as the football and hurling championships reach boiling point. Adding an extra dimension to the show this year is a new strand called Master Marksmen which will see former GAA greats shooting out against each other to see who still has the nerve and skill to convert frees under pressure.

Des will present the programme each week from a different club around the country, with a live studio audience adding to the building excitement as the club and county get ready for the weekend's big game.

Keeping close tabs on the emerging storylines of the 2008 Football and Hurling Championships, the programme will feature star guests coming straight from the action to discuss their fortunes. There will also be cutting edge analysis and highlights of the week's big games and some trips down memory lane in the company of former greats, making The Road to Croker the perfect midweek fix of GAA action.

Popular items, such as Match Day Diaries and the anniversary features return again, while in a new strand called Master Marksmen, former GAA greats such as Ross Carr, Larry Tompkins, Johnny Dooley and Eddie Keher will be shooting out against each other to see who still has the nerve and skill to convert frees under pressure. This competition will be featured in the show each week and will culminate in a final in front of 80,000 people in Croke Park.
