Tropical Island View

HOW TO

For the sea and clouds:

  • Cut long strips of different types of blue paper. Along the top of each strip cut out a wave shape.
  • Stick each strip down to a large sheet of paper, leaving the wave on top, unstuck.
  • Cut some cloud shapes along the top of a strip of white paper.
  • Stick this strip behind the waves.

For the island:

  • Cut out an island shape from yellow paper.
  • Stick the island to the page making sure the waves cover the bottom of the island.

For the palm trees:

  • Peel the top layer from some corrugated card. Cut out a tree trunk shape (do in sections).
  • Cut out leave shapes from different coloured green paper and stick to the trunk.
  • Make two of these and stick either side for the island.

For the hammock:

  • Using fruit netting – arrange of the page in a hammock shape stretching from one tree to the other.

For the binoculars:

  • Take a sheet of black paper the same size as the artwork.
  • Fold in half and cut out three quarters of a circle from the folded edge.
  • Discard the cut out section and unfold the black paper to reveal the shape of binoculars.
  • Stick this black paper to the artwork. It will act as a border and will look like the island is being viewed through a pair of binoculars.
