    Roscommon Water

    As the country gets closer to paying for water, people in parts of Roscommon are wondering how they could possibly be asked to pay for water laced with Cryptosporidium. There has been a Boil Water notice in place since last April and it was a major issue in the local elections. Valerie Cox was in Roscommon yesterday to find out how people are coping

    Vitamin D Deficiency

    Rickets is a disease that you may associate with tenement flats and times long past, but it is occurring once again in Australia, particularly amongst children there. This is down to a lack of exposure to the sun and a consequent deficiency in Vitamin D - something which we too suffer from in great numbers in this country. Keelin is joined by Dr Nóirín Noonan, Consultant in Occupational Medicine at St James's Hospital who has been studying the effects of Vitamin D deficiency over the past number of years.


    Summer-time can be a particularly challenging time for parents of children with autism. Many of the children find a lack of routine hard to deal with and with schools closed, and cut-backs in services, it can be a struggle for many. One voluntary group in Galway which is run by parents for parents of children with autism is helping to bridge that gap, and making a difference in their lives.
