    Garda/Minister Shatter

Despite a resignation on Tuesday and numerous statements in the Dail yesterday, many questions remain about the controversies engulfing An Garda Siochana and the Minister for Justice.

Will a large number of court cases be tainted because of secret recordings at Garda stations?

What were the circumstances in which former Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan stepped down?

And how can the government get itself out of this mess?

The issue of the Commissioner's departure was discussed in the Dail yesterday, with the Taoiseach confirmed that a government official had visited Martin Callinan before he stepped down.

Sean was joined by Tom Brady, Irish Independent Security Editor; Niamh Lyons, political correspondent with the Irish Daily Mail and by barrister, Dara Robinson.

Jayson Montenegro left the Philippines in 2004 for a new life in Ireland, leaving his three children behind with his parents. To this day he is still undocumented in Ireland. In a country that campaigns for as many as 50,000 of its citizens undocumented in United States, the plight of undocumented citizens in Ireland has obvious parallels.

He came in to studio this morning with Edel McGinley of the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland

    Sean O’Casey

Sean O’Casey was one of the greatest and most polemical Irish playwrights and social critics of the 20th century. His turbulent life and times are the subject of A Song for the Green Crow, a dramatic tribute, at Liberty Hall Theatre next Sunday. This year is the fiftieth anniversary of his death.

Des Geraghty, a former president of SIPTU, wrote and arranged A Song for the Green Crow was in studio and Sean O’Casey’s daughter Shivaun joined Sean on the line from her home in Devon.

    Obama in Rome

US President Barack Obama is in Rome this morning to meet Pope Francis for the first time on his European tour, which has been dominated by the crisis in Ukraine. He’s had three days of talks with EU leaders in the Netherlands and Brussels.

Joined now by BBC reporter based in Rome, Davie Willie.

    Maternity Hospitals

Figures just out show that some hospitals are much more likely to carry out Caesarian sections than others.

According to the HSE statistics for 2012, over 40% of women in St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny had a C-Section.

This compares to just 23% in Sligo General.

The figures were obtained by a group which campaigns for reform of maternity services in Ireland.

Krysia Lynch, Co-Chair of the Association for Improvements in the Maternity Services spoke to Sean this morning.
