    Rape Case

    Yesterday, Fiona Doyle speaking of her upset at the sentence given to her father Patrick O Brien who was raped her for more than a decade. Patrick O Brien was given a 12 year sentence 9 years of the sentence were suspended and he was released on bail pending an appeal.

    Generic Drugs

    The Health Bill 2012 relating to the supply and cost of medical goods is currently before the Oireachtas and is expected to be passed early this year. The new legislation is aimed at reducing the cost of medicines in Ireland. At the moment we spend about €2 billion a year on medicines, but less than €200 million on generics. How does this compare with other EU countries and how can we cut costs? Dr. Sotiris Vandoros, of Brunel University and London School of Economics is speaking at a breakfast briefing on ‘Generic substitution and the European experience’ tomorrow, in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and he joined Pat in studio.

    Ireland’s Rescue Loans

    Seemingly good news from the Eurozone as finance ministers yesterday agreed in principle to extend the maturity of Ireland’s rescue loans, a move with potential to cut the cost the bailout by billions of euro.
