The conclusion of the February Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh concert in Feothannach in Corca Dhuibhne including a powerful performance by Christy Moore who visited and enjoyed the festival.
In a special programme from the Cobblestone in Smithfield, Dublin we meet with the internationally celebrated traditional group Altan to mark the issue of their latest album The Poison Glen and hear music, song, story and their latest news.
Music and song recorded at this year’s Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh, which took place in February in the Kerry Gaeltacht of Corca Dhuibhne on the Dingle Peninsula.
A song written and sung by Andy Irvine about O’Donoghue’s music pub in Dublin, memories of Jack Coen and Sarah Anne O’Neill, piping from Willie Clancy, tunes from Dermot Byrne and Floriane Blancke on accordion and guitar and the results of our quiz for copies of the new Altan CD “Gleann Nimhe – Poison Glen”.
Tony Mac Mahon gives a personal memory of the late Barney McKenna and we hear some music they recorded together on accordion and banjo. Also two pieces related to the Titanic: a song from Bud Frazer and some instrumental music from Moving Hearts
