On this week's programme Noeleen Dooley suggests some drinks and remedies in preparation for harvest and the onset of cold weather, the budget family recipe is for lasagne, Michael Culloty of MABS talks about credit rating and Justine Dwyer (who has never owned a pair of wellies) joins Michael Kelly for a crash course in home-farming (with hilarious results!)

Noeleen Dooley talks about harvest drinks and remedies:

Blackcurrant cordial

1lb blackcurrants
1tsp each of ground clove, nutmeg and cinnamon
Little honey
1 pt water

Method:
Combine ingredients. Boil for 30 mins
Leave for 12 hours
Sieve into clean bottle
Dilute to taste

Raspberry vinegar - cough medicine and nice for salad dressings too!

½ lb raspberries
¾ pt cider vinegar

Method:
Mix in sterile bottle
Leave 3 weeks then strain into clean bottle and use - gargle or sip for coughs. Mix with olive oil for dressing.

Hangover cure

Before you go out take 1 tablespoon of honey with 5floz milk
When you come home drink 1 ½ tablespoons of honey with juice of 1 lemon in glass of warm water.

Honey and lemon throat soother

Honey remedies from the book In Praise of Honey, published by Boyne Valley Honey

Combine:
3 tblsps honey
Juice of 1 lemon
2tsps vegetable glycerine
½ tsp ground ginger

Cleansing morning tonic:

Combine:
3tsp honey
½ lemon
Cup hot water
