THE BUSINESS PROPERTY INDEX
In the first week of September 2007, The Business selected 50 residential properties - and we've been tracking their progress ever since. Just 6% of the properties have sold for the original asking price.
By April 2008:
In total, only 36% of our properties had sold.
6% sold for the original asking price.
A further 30% sold - but at a reduced price.
64% of all the properties failed to sell, or were withdrawn by the agent.
In total, 24% were withdrawn from sale, and 40% remain for sale.
40% of all the properties remain on sale today through the same agents.
Of those, 60% have dropped their price; 40% have not.
Of those that dropped their prices, the average price reduction was 10%.
