The Bloom of Youth 2007

Programme 1: July 21st
Tonight sees the return of the popular Bloom of Youth series for a short summer run. The programme focuses on some of our finest young musicians and singers. The series starts with accordion player Damien Mullane and uileann piper Sean McCarthy.

Programme 2: July 28th
The Bloom of Youth continues its short summer run with flute player Damien Stenson and sean nós singer Nell Ní Chroinín

Programme 3: August 4th
This short Summer series on RTE Radio 1 continues tonight with Fiddle player Geraldine O Callaghan from Freemount in Co. Cork. A member of the Allow Ceili Band and a student at the University of Limerick, Geraldine is proud of the Sliabh Luachra tradition. Our second guest tonight is Sligo Concertina player Mairead Hurley. She's an All Ireland champion and, at present, is doing a PHD in Astronomy at DCU.

Programme 4: August 11th
Tonight's Bloom of Youth features two performers from the Gaeltacht in two different areas of the Country. Sean Nos singer Naisrin El Safti is an Oireachtas champion from Co. Galway and Uileann piper Eanna O Croinin also an Oireachtas champion is from Rath Cairn in Co. Meath.

Programme 5: August 18th
Our final programme in this year's Bloom of Youth Series features the outstanding Fermanagh tenor banjo player, Brona Graham and the young Co. Clare musician, Tara Breen who plays brilliantly on the fiddle, flute and saxophone.
