Irish Voices: Jennifer Johnston
Novelist Jennifer Johnston, whose first novel was published in 1972, has produced a steady stream of work of over fifteen novels, winning the Whitbread prize & being shortlisted for the Booker Prize. She joins us to talk about her work. Also joining us to discuss the author's work are Dr Heather Ingman, Trinity School of English, and journalist Sue Leonard.

As part of the Irish Voices series we take a look at the work of short-story writer and novelist Mary Lavin, who is considered one of the foremost Irish short-story writers of the 20th Century. Continuing our Irish Voices series, tonight we look at the life and work of author Maria Edgeworth. One of the most highly regarded authors of the early 19th century, today she is remembered mainly for her Irish novels, particularly 'Castle Rackrent'.

Irish Voices: Kate O'Brien
In the first of our Irish Voices series, we take a look at the life and work of novelist Kate O'Brien. Her writing career spanned 32 years, from 1926 to 1958, with 'The Ante Room' and 'The Land of Spices' among her most famous works. She also produced a number of travel logs and plays during her writing career. Poet Kate O'Donovan and playwright Melissa Murray discuss the novelist's life and work.
