    The Rolling Wave

Traditional and folk music in Ireland, presented by Peter Browne

Mick Moloney brings his group "The Green Fields of America" to the TLT Theatre in Drogheda for the showcase concert at this year's Johnstons Folk Festival and we hear some of the artists: piper Jerry O'Sullivan, accordion player Billy McComiskey and some Irish American songs sung by Mick himself who is an expert in this area. Also new CDs from Colm Naughton (banjo) and Niamh Dunne (songs).

    About The Show

Named after a famous traditional Irish tune, The Rolling Wave is a sharp ear and a close eye on the world of traditional and folk music in Ireland.

Sunday, 10.00pm on RTÉ Radio 1

    Competition

Congratulations to the two winners of the Rolling Wave January quiz: Michael Cronin of Ballincollig and Dan Buckley of Loughlinstown.  There was a very good response and these winners were judged to be the best two of the many entries we received – but it was a close run thing! The prizes are copies of the new CD Didn’t She Dance and Dance by Paudie O’Connor and Aoife Ní Chaoimh.

For the new quiz, the singing group Lynched have given two copies of their new CD Cold Old Fire. One of the songs on it is Daffodil Mulligan – her mother was of course Biddy Mulligan and we want to know where was Biddy Mulligan from?
