    The John Murray Show and Saturday Night Show are jointly running a music competition - click here for full detailis.  Emerging musicians are invited to send in their music to the John Murray Show by email.The John Murray Show decides on a shortlist of the 20 best acts.A panel of experts will reduce the field from 20 to six.

    These six are all played (pre-recorded) on the John Murray Show in a semi-final on Friday, May 16, where the top three are decided by a panel on that show.

    The final three then play live in Studio 8 in the John Murray Show final on Thursday, May 29.The overall winner plays again on the Saturday Night Show on Saturday, May 31. Please ensure the soloist and/or band members are available for these key dates.

    Jimmy Guerin, brother of Veronica

    After midnight tonight, John Gilligan who arranged the killing of journalist Veronica Guerin, walks free, having devastated the lives of so many people, who in the words of her brother Jimmy, still suffer the loss & pain over Veronica's death. Jimmy is on the line to Miriam this morning.

    In studio with Miriam is FG TD, Derek Keating for Dublin Mid-West, who according to a report in yesterday's Sunday Independent has been asked to stand aside as a Minister of the Eucharist in his local church, as a result of his support for the recent abortion legislation.

    Linda Martin - Get Lucky

    Last June Linda Martin was on stage of the Saturday Night Show with her version of 'Get Lucky'! Although opinion was divided it racked up lots of hits on Youtube & Linda hopes to relive the moment again but this time with the one & only Nile Rodgers of Chic, who featured on the Daft Punk hit. Linda joins Miriam on the line to tell us more.

    Canadian Fireman

    Each year a fire fighter from Ireland travels to Canada to work in a fire station there & in return a Canadian fire fighter comes here to work in one of our stations. Miriam meets Canadian fireman Brent Barton, down at Donnybrook Fire Station.

    Underdogs Success!

    A couple of years along we put our first callout for a 'struggling but spirited sports squad' to follow that season. Offaly's Crinkle Intermediate hurlers answered that call & we named them 'Underdogs' -but as of Saturday night, they may need a loftier title! Joining Miriam on the line are John Ryan & Cha Cahill from Crinkle Hurling squad to tell us about their victory.
