    Kathryn Thomas reports from this year's Castlepalooza Music Festival held in Tullamore on Sunday last, here are a few of the songs performed, which were selected from a number of entries sent in by our listeners to the show.

    Castlepalooza Festival - Glimmermen

    The August Bank Holiday is next weekend and so is the Casltepalooza Music and Arts Festival.

    There you will find some of the best acts around including CSS, Ghostpoet… And So I Watch You From Afar… Luke Vibert … and of course the best of the music you - our listeners - have sent into us on our own dedicated stage – at the wooded wonderland setting that is Charleville Castle, Tullamore.

    Music from Ian O'Doherty who plays in Whelans in Dublin and McCarthy's Bar in Dingle regularly.  He has released his own EP Never in Colour. He is supporting Gemma Hayes in Westport on October 5th.

    Paddy Moloney The Chieftains

    Last year the Chieftains celebrated 50 years together & on August 1st, Paddy Moloney will celebrate his 75th birthday. Joining Miriam in studio this morning is Paddy Moloney, along with some great musical friends, Seán Keane, Kevin Coneff & Tríona Marshall. Also to wish Paddy birthday wishes on the line from UK is Imelda May & from LA, Ry Cooder.

    The Chieftains will be playing two gigs this weekend with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra & other guest on Friday July 19 & Saturday 20th.  Conductor is Stephen Bell. www.nch.ie

    Gerald Fleming, Head of Forecasting at Met Eireann

    Earlier in the show musician Glen Hansard revealed that his Oscar winning song, Falling Slowly, was inpired by all things, the Sea Area Forecast on RTE Radio 1. On the line to Miram we have Gerald Fleming, to ask him why the sea area forecasts casts such a spell on people.
