    Jim Reeves Music

    Country crooner Jim Reeves died in July 1964, when he dominated the airwaves & record sales here in Ireland.  This morning joining JOhn in studio are singers Al & Isla Grant for a chat & performance. Al's voice bears an uncanny resemblance to that of Jim Reeves.

    Midge Ure - Ultravox

    Joining John from a studio in Edinburgh is Midge Ure from Ultravox, behind such hits as 'Dancing with Tears in My Eyes' & of course 'Vienna'. He joins us to talk about his childhood, his music, Band Aid & touring again.

    Midge is coming to Dublin soon in March...An Acoustic Evening in the Sugar Club on Sunday 2nd March @ 8pm.

    John's next guest was a finalist on first series of The Voice of Ireland, he has since formed a band called The White Chalk & their new EP recently climbed to the Number 1 spot on I-tunes album chart downloads. Conor Quinn & White Chalk perform in studio this morning.

    Garth Brooks interview live from Oklahoma

    Three nights at Croke Park sold out in just 90 minutes, thousands of Garth Brooks fans braved the cold, the wind and the rain, camping out &  queued for hours in the hope of getting their hands on those golden tickets.  Still... Countless fans have been left distraught... but hopefully that’s not for much longer.  On the line to John this morning is the man himself,Garth Brooks!

    Luke Kelly Special live from O'Donoghues Pub

    In the next hour we're going to be celebrating the life and music of one of the country's greatest folk singers of all time, Luke Kelly as today is the 30th anniversary of his death. We will also have some fantastic music from some of the country's finest musicians, John Sheehan, Damien Dempsey, Paddy Reilly & Finbar Furey.

     

    John is also joined  a large crowd of listeners who have made their way here from all over the country for a special show this morning!

    Music & Chat with Ron Pope

    In studio with John is American pop/rock singer-songwriter Ron Pope. In 2005 he wrote the internet hit 'A Drop in the Ocean' with Zach Berkman, which led Pope pursuing a career as a solo artist.

    Ron will be playing: Mandella Hall, Belfast - Saturday 1st February & Vicar Street, Dublin - Sunday 2nd February.

    Aled Jones

    His voice has become a part of our lives since we first heard it in 1985 & when he sang one of the most memorable songs 'Walking In The Air'. It is Aled Jones & he has enjoyed continued success ever sinc.  He still sings, is a familiar presence on the radio and TV & he will be performing in Dublin soon! Aled Jones joins John from a studio in UK.

    Chat & performance with Jarlath Tinvan (fiddle) & brother Conor (concertina)

    In studio with John this morning is 23 year old Jarlath Tinvan, who is quietly making a name for himself on the Irish Theatre circuit but his talents are not exclusive to acting. An accomplished traditional musician, he is joined by his brother Conor to play a few reels & to tell us about his role in Martin McDonagh's play 'A Skull in Connemara' as Mairtin Hanlon.

    You can see Jarlath Tivnan in 'A Skull in Connemara' which runs all this week until February 2nd, in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin.

    Music & Chat - Johnny Duhan

    Johnny Duhan joins John in studio now, a career spanning 40 years his greatest achievement is a quartet of epic albums, Just antoher Town, To The Light, The Voyage & Flame - which correspond to the four chapters of his lyrical autobiography, To The Light.   Johnny will perform a couple of songs in studio.

    Johnny will be playing Saint Werburgh’s Church tomorrow night at 8pm, for the Temple Bar Tradfest The Triskel in Cork on the 21st of March.

    Music & Chat with Zervas & Pepper

    Zervas & Pepper is an exotic sounding name for a music duo of, Kathryn Pepper and Paul Zervas. When you hear the duo you'll think of Californian sunshine & beautiful 60s harmonies. Joining John in studio for a chat & performance are Paul & Kathryn.

    Their second album is called Lifebringer - gig at The Sugar Club on Thursday, 23rd January 2014.
