    Music with Luan Parle

    Live music today comes from a singer songwriter who recorded her first album in 1993 at the tender age of 12 following an appearance on the Late Late Toy Show & went on to become a household name & Meteor Award Winner. Luan Parle joins Oliver in studio this morning & sings her latest single 'When My Day is Done'.

    Music & chat with Red Molly

    Since forming around a campfire at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in New York in 2004, Red Molly have gone on to make six albums & have toured worldwide. The trio, Molly Venter, Laurie MacAlister & Abbie Gardner are currently on tour in Ireland & the UK before heading back stateside & they join John in studio this morning.

    Elaine Paige - The First Lady of British Musical Theatre

    Elaine Paige, the Olivier Award-winning British musical theatre star, who has appeared on New York stages in Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd & Follies, kicks off her "farewell" concert tour in the U.K. today, October 9th. 

    The tour encompasses Elaine's monumental career, with songs from the world of musical theatre & this morning John speaks to Elaine Paige about her forthcoming tour.


    Music & chat with Slow Skies

    Joining John in studio this morning are a Donegal duo, Karen Sheridan & Colin Heron who go by the name of Slow Skies.  They will perform one of their own songs called 'Ice Field' & a cover of the John Waite hit 'Missing You'.

    Music with band - Mozaik

    Donal Lunny & Andy Irving are well-known to Irish audiences & they are in studio this morning along with Nikola Parov from Hungary, Bruce Molsy from US & Rens van der Zalm from Holland & Australia.

    Their band is called Mozaik & they are in studio with John this morning for a chat & performance.


    Sinead O'Connor MiPod

    John is joined in studio by singer songwriter Sinead O'Connor, to take part in our mipod series, where a guest selects music taking us through the sound track of her life & times.

    X Factor - Janet Grogan

    Irish artistes have featured large in this year's X-Factor. No fewer than five home-grown solo artistes making it through to the "Boot Camp".

    In studio with John this morning is one of those contestants, Janet Grogan who secured one of Simon’s 6 coveted seats to go through to the “Judges Houses”.   But this was when things started to go horribly wrong when -  in a cruel twist of fate and at the eleventh hour - she was swapped out in favour of a rival contestant.


    Music & chat with Vance Joy

    Australian born James Keogh, better known as Vance Joy, gave up a promising football career in the name of music & he's helping to raise the profile of the humble ukelele with his hit song 'Riptide'.  This morning he joins John for a chat & performance.

    Music with The Young Folk

    John is now joined by a young band who have been called 'serious challengers' for the area populated by the likes of Fleet Foxes & Mumford and Sons.

    They are The Young Folk & their new album called 'Little Battle' was released last week. It's available in Tower Records & on iTunes.

    They’re playing the Spirit Store, Dundalk this Friday, September 19th… Soundwaves Festival, Skerries on Saturday, September 27th… & The Botton Factor, Dublin on Friday, October 24.


    Music: Aisling Live in Studio

    On this, her first ever studio album, Hold My Dream, Aisling co-wrote six of the ten tracks and she is deeply flattered by the comparisons of her sound and style to those of the multi-million selling Enya and Clannad. She also sang all the backing vocals which adds to the spirituality, depth and very personal feel of the sound.
