The John Murray Show / Saturday Night Show Emerging Music Comp

This morning we announce another emerging music competition in collaboration with the Saturday Night Show.

Last year we saw entrants representing almost every town in the country & every conceivable genre of music. In studio we have last years winner Chanele McGuinness & Sat Night TV Show presenter Brendan O'Connor.

Musician Gavin Dunne

He is one of the most successful indie musicans in the country but no-one knows who he is, so says Gavin Dunne.  Musician Gavin has had over 50 million YouTube hits & over 6 million streams on Spotify todate & he joins John in studio this morning to talk about his niche but worldwide fanbase.

Singer-songwriter Mickey Harte

Just back from Germany, Donegal singer Mickey Harte has been a mainstay of the Irish roots & popular music scene for more than 10 years - with multiple top 20 hits & Platinum records to his name. Mickey joins John in studio to singe his latest single titled 'Wish You Well'.

John speaks to singer songwriter from New York city, Rachael Sage who has just released her new album called 'Blue Roses' & before she finished touring Ireland last week, she dropped into studio for chat & performance.

Music from Inni-K

Kildare woman Inni-K has been hard at work & her new album launches today, it is called 'The King has Two Horses Ears' & Inni-K joins John for a chat & performance with songs from the album.

Monday 2nd March

David Varley - rugby & music

Damien Varley had to cut short his career in rugby as the 31-year-old picked up the injury to his left foot during a training session in July 2013. Damien was a Munster hooker & has 3 caps for Ireland % made 121 appearances for the province, scoring 12 tries. Damien is also a keen musician he was known for his musical talents while singing on many a rugby tour. Damien joins John in studio for a chat & performance.

Friday 27th February

Vladimir & Anton Jablokov

Vladimir & Anton Jablokov are Slovakian sibling musicians with a shared rare gift - mastery of the classical violin - & are set to join forces on the stage of the National Concert Hall this Easter Saturday, 4th April 2015 as part of their nationwide tour. Vladimir & Anton join John in studio for a chat & performance.

20 Years of Irelands Call

When Ireland take on England in the six nations in the Aviva on Sunday, the stadium will once again ring to the sound of Ireland's Call - our rugby anthem which is 20 years old this year.

Phil Coulter is the man behind the song, in a career apanning about 50 years, Phil has published hundreds of songs & collaborated with so many artists from Van Morrison, Planxty, Bay City Rollers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tom Jones, Celtic Thunder ....the list goes on & Phil joins John in studio this morning to mark Ireland's Call anniversary.


Wednesday 25th February

Music from English folk rock trio The Staves

One of the most talked about acts in folk rock at the moment are three sisters who started out as part of the backing group to Tom Jones. They are called The Staves, with sisters Emily, Jessica & Camilla Staveley-Taylor & they join John for a chat & performance from our studio in London.
