    This morning we are joined by some of the biggests stars of the Fleadh, Frankie Gavin & De Danann from our Galway studio, for a chat & performances.

    The Gaiety Theatre - Grease Final/Search for Sandy

    The John Murray Show comes live from the Gaiety Theatre this morning for the final in the search for Sandy role in the forthcoming production of Grease in the Gaiety in November.

    Our 3 contestants are Michelle Lehane, Emma Coast & Lauren Nevin, Judges are Tony Finnegan, David Hayes & Susan McFadden. 

    Carl Stallwood will be performing Danny in the upcoming production.

    Also John will chatwith Brian Gilligan who will be playing the drummer in the musical The Commitments.

    Music - Featuring X

    In studio with John this morning are a female five-piece from Drogheda in Co Louth who earlier this summer all did their Leaving Certs. Their band is called Featuring X & their new single is called Wild Love.

    Band members are Niamh Sharkey, Dara Farrelly, Jenny McKeown, Eleanor Rogers and Sarah McLaughlin.

    Future gigs are Galway Fringe Festival- July 23rd / The Le Cheile Music and Arts Festival in Oldcastle, Co Meath- August 2nd / the Ballinamore Fringe Festival in Co Leitrim - August 23rd.

    This weekend sees the start of the Laya Healthcare City Spectacular with concerts, family picnics, artisan food events. Australian-born & now Bristol-based, Mr. Woodnote (also known as Mikey) also joined by vocalists Lil Ryhys & Eva Lazarus join John in studio this morning.

    Music & chat with a band from Seattle

    It is hard to believe that it is now 20 years since one of America's most iconic rock stars, Kurt Cobain, was found dead in his Seattle home.  Kurt fronted Nirvana - arguably the most influential band of a generation, with their album Nevermind being one of the best selling records of all time.

    Nirvana's original drummer was Chad Channing, who now fronts a band called 'Before Cars' who are on a European tour this month. They join John here in studio for a chat & performance.

    Irish & Cuban music connection

    Irish producer & lecturer Bob Jackson was on holiday in Cub & at the opening of an art exhibition Bob heard Erdwin Garcia & his band. They were introduced & spent the next few days recording a demo using a handheld recorder. Bob flew back to Ireland, edited & mixed the demo. Bob tells John what happened next.
