    Music from The Railsplitters

    John is joined in studio by five musicians, Lauren Stovall, Dusty Rider, Peter Sharpe, Leslie Ziegler & Christine King, all standing around one big old-fashioned looking microphone .

    They are called The Railsplitters & are from various parts of US but Colarado based. They play bluegrass, with a modern twist & will perform 'Planted on the Ground' & 'Met the Day'.

    Derek Ryan

    Derek Ryan is about to start a short ‘Intimate Acoustic’ tour. He has just released his brand new single, ‘Cecilia’, a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s 1970 classic, from his soon-to-be-released new album, ‘One Good Night.’ He and his band are in studio to sing Cecelia and Cry.

    Gavin Glass

    Gavin Glass is currently musical director for a forthcoming movie by John Carney – best known for his award-winning 2007 movie ‘Once’.

    He has also recently released his fourth album called “Sunday Songs”  which is out now in all good record shops and on iTunes. The album launch is in Whelan’s, Dublin on Sunday, June 28th.

    Guitarist Pat Coldrick

    Pat has been playing classical guitar because his business went bust in 2008.  A carpenter who sold ornate Vicotrian Kitchens, but when the recession hit everything changed for him.

    He picked up his guitar for the first time in 25 years & began to play. Pat joins John for a performance & chat in studio this morning.

    Emerging Irish Music Talent - Final

    Two months ago we launched our emerging music competition jointly with RTE TV Saturday Night Show. Of the hundreds of entries, 20 were selected, then 6 & from that the top 3.

    Our Judges are Cáit O'Riordan, Jerry Fish & Laura Lomax. The three finalists are Third Smoke from Dundalk, Fintan O'Brien from Clondalkin & Gone All Year from Belfast.

    The winner - Third Smoke.
