    John's music guest this morning is a relative newcomer to the music business. Niamh Crowther impressed a panel of Irish music industry gurus with her songwriting as far back as 2011, at the tender age of 14!

    Music - The Willis Clan - chat & performances

    In studio with John this morning are a family of musicians from Nashville, Tennessee. The Willis Clan are currently in the middle of an Irish tour & have released an album called Heaven.

    John speaks Brenda, mother of the troop before they perform 'Road to Watertown' followed later by 'A Few of My Favourite Things/'.





    Music from The Railsplitters

    John is joined in studio by five musicians, Lauren Stovall, Dusty Rider, Peter Sharpe, Leslie Ziegler & Christine King, all standing around one big old-fashioned looking microphone .

    They are called The Railsplitters & are from various parts of US but Colarado based. They play bluegrass, with a modern twist & will perform 'Planted on the Ground' & 'Met the Day'.


    The Proclaimers - Charlie Reid

    At the end of June the Killarney Festival of Music & Food takes place in the Killarney National Park. On stage will be The Proclaimers, Scottish twin brothers Charlie & Craig & we get the opportunity to speak to Charlie Reid ahead of the performance.


    Derek Ryan

    Derek Ryan is about to start a short ‘Intimate Acoustic’ tour. He has just released his brand new single, ‘Cecilia’, a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s 1970 classic, from his soon-to-be-released new album, ‘One Good Night.’ He and his band are in studio to sing Cecelia and Cry.

    Gavin Glass

    Gavin Glass is currently musical director for a forthcoming movie by John Carney – best known for his award-winning 2007 movie ‘Once’.

    He has also recently released his fourth album called “Sunday Songs”  which is out now in all good record shops and on iTunes. The album launch is in Whelan’s, Dublin on Sunday, June 28th.


    Music - Tir na nÓg

    Tír na nÓg are credited with being one of the first progressive folk groups along with British band Pentangle - the original of the species from back in the late 1960s & 70s.

    In studio with John are Sonny Condell & Leo O'Kelly.


    Guitarist Pat Coldrick

    Pat has been playing classical guitar because his business went bust in 2008.  A carpenter who sold ornate Vicotrian Kitchens, but when the recession hit everything changed for him.

    He picked up his guitar for the first time in 25 years & began to play. Pat joins John for a performance & chat in studio this morning.
