The Hot Sprockets- performance & chat

In studio this morning for performance & chat are Dublin band The Hot Sprockets.  Members Tim Cullen, Wayne Soper, Frankie Kelly & Andrew Sutton (missing member today is Joey Lynch) all share a love of rock & roll music, the kind that is haunted by ghosts of rhythm & blues! Their album The Button Factory is launched on June 7th.

Bill Whelan & Sir James Galway

John is joined in studio by one of our best known musical composers, Bill Whelan. Flautist, Sir James Galway is also on the line from his home in Switzerland to talk about their music collaboration Linen & Lace.

We also play a music piece specially arranged for this morning's show by Bill Whelan called Evening Ceilí & perfomed by Zoe Conway on fiddle & the RTE Contempo Quartet.

Irish folk singer, Cara Dillon has been performing since the age of 14 & has created many opportunities with an almost angelic voice. Cara is a great star in China & she joins John in studio this morning to performs songs from her new album 'A Thousand Hearts'.

Silverwood Music - Éibhin Eviston

Frustration with record labels has led a group of musicians to form a kind of collective or co-operative to showcase what they do. They're calling it Silverwood Music & one of the musicians involved is Éibhin Eviston from Dublin joins John in studio this morning.

Music & chat with The Niall McCabe Band

Anyone who's ever been to Clare Island will probably know McCabes, once the only pub on the island, it was also a hotel, shop & post office & is a popular B&B today. Joining John in studio this morning is Niall McCabe & his band for a performance & chat.

You can catch the Niall McCabe Band at the Crane Lane Theatre, Cork on Monday, June 9th.  They also play a regular gig every Sunday night at Coughlan’s Bar, Douglas Street, Cork
