    Turmoil in Egypt

    This week has seen the deaths of hundreds, or possibly thousands, of protesters in Egypt, as well as the torching of buildings and complete carnage on the streets. It's a tragic state of affairs for a country that appeared to be thriving, even during the depths of the global economic crisis. Cairo-based reporter Kimberly Adams discusses the consequences for the Egyptian economy.

    The Companies at the Core of the 1913 Lockout

    This week marked the 100th anniversary of one of the early defining moments of the 1913 Lockout when business man William Martin Murphy sacked 40 men and boys in the dispatch and delivery office of the Irish Independent. But he wasn't the only business man coming down hard on workers at the time. Labour Historian Francis Devine, and Andy Bielenberg, senior lecturer in the school of history at University College Cork, join us in studio.

    The Secret World of Stamps

    Next week, An Post is due to launch three new commemorative stamps marking the 100th anniversary of the 1913 Lockout. No doubt these are stamps that a lot of collectors with be eager to get their hands on. But what about the whole business of stamps? Our reporter Liam Geraghty has been enveloping himself in that world of philately, as it is called - a multi-billion euro industry.

    There has been a vast improvement in employment rights and conditions since the 1913 Lockout, workers still - in many instances - have to fight for their rights. We're joined now by two people very familiar with this territory - Terrence O'Sullivan of Terence J O'Sullivan Solicitors based in Cork and Anne Lyne, Employment Solicitor at Hayes Solicitors in Dublin.
