    Solutions to a Long-Term Problem

    There was some good news on the jobs front this week. For the first time since 2007 employment figures have risen for the third quarter in a row. It seems that Ireland is bucking the trend in comparison with many other countries in the Eurozone. UCD labour economist Frank Walsh and social policy analyst Camille Loftus discuss.

    Austerity Bites

    Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman has been one of the strongest critics of austerity and his message seems to be gaining traction. This week the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso announced that some EU countries will be allowed to slow the pace of their austerity cuts in an attempt to boost economic growth. He joins us from New York.
