    Michael Somers

    Michael Somers spent 48 years in the service of the State. He was the chairman of the group that drew up the National Development Plan in the late 1980s. He was awarded Chevalier in the Légion d'Honneur by the French President for his role in establishing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, but he's most recognised here as the boss of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA). He retired from that role in 2009 and was subsequently appointed to the Board of Allied Irish Bank on the instructions of the Minister for Finance. He is now the Deputy Chairman of AIB. He joins us in studio.
