Sunday Miscellany: A Selection from 2008-2011
This collection edited by the programme's producer Clíodhna Ní Anluain and published by New Island includes many of the popular pieces from the radio broadcasts of these years. Covering all sorts of subjects and styles, it makes its way through the calender year following the seasons starting out with new beginnings and ending as the year grows to a close. Contributions relate to memories and observations, to heros past and present from the late Mick Lally, Ciaran Mac Mathúna and Keith Floyd to Kilkenny hurlers; from summer swimming to to sensing ghosts in November; from domestic living in the 1970s to writing on popular songs and music. Pieces include many of those first heard at Sunday Miscellany events recorded around the country from Ballyshannon, Kilkenny and Omagh to Listowel and The Pearse Museum in Dublin as well as the many studio recordings made during the same time. Contributors include Val Mulkerns, Cyril Kelly, Claire Kilroy, Mary Morrissy, Kevin McAleer, Conor O'Callaghan, Colbert Kearney, Peter Sirr, John Banville, Christine Dwyer Hickey, John O'Donnell, Vona Groarke, Evelyn Conlon, Éilis Ní Dhuibhne, and John MacKenna - The publisher is New Island and the RRP is €17.99
