    Sunday with Miriam

Miriam O'Callaghan presents a live stimulating mix of lifestyle, music, human interest and great interviews, the perfect soundtrack to your Sunday morning.

    Paul Brady Competition

Many thanks to the 4,000+ listeners who emailed during and after our programme on Sunday 12th April to apply for tickets to the launch party of Paul Brady’s new album.  Sadly, we only have 160 tickets to give away and those have all now been distributed.  If you haven’t received an email from our programme to say your name is on the guest list, sadly, that means you haven’t been successful.  Apologies that we weren’t able to respond to all applicants individually.

    TD Terence Flanagan

On the day of the launch of the new political party Renua led by Lucinda Creighton and Eddie Hobbs. Renua TD Terence Flanagan first spoke to Drivetime’s Mary Wilson in what was seen as a excruciating, brain freeze train wreck interview, since then he has not given a public interview. He spoke to Miriam this morning live in studio about that day, and what went wrong.

Transgender Children: "Sarah", Mother of Kelly

This morning, Miriam spoke to "Sarah" a mother to Kelly who was born a boy but now lives as an eight year old girl. She also spoke to Dr Donal O'Shea, Consultant Endocrinologist at Loughlinstown Hospital, about gender dysphoria.

You can read more about Sarah’s story  as well as advice from Professor Donal O’Shea in this weekend’s Irish Times.  And that series on Trans Kids, by Peter McGuire, continues in The Irish Times tomorrow and on Tuesday.

    Transgender Equality

The Transgender Equality Network of Ireland (TENI) has details of further health support as well as parental and local peer support groups across the island of Ireland. See or contact (01)8733575.

The parental support group, TransparenCI, is on twitter: @Trans_ParenCI or

IndividualiTy: a peer support for transgender people or young people questioning their gender identity (ages 14-23). Meets every Wednesday from 5.30-7.30pm in BeLonGTo office, 13 Parliament Street, Dublin 2

BeLonGTo does not have a targeted service for under 14's but recognises that, in recent years, parents of younger children are contacting their services in growing numbers. The organisation says that it recognises there is a gap in support services for this particular group and offers help, where possible, via email, phone, and one-to-one support. See or phone 016706223. BeLonGTo can also refer parents or young people to regional support services, such as Outcomers in Dundalk.
