Smokers

Paddy O'Gorman meets smokers on Ireland's streets.

"It's said that romances have begun as a result of the smoking ban; that people who otherwise might never have met, but who have been forced into each other's company outside pubs and offices, have ended up falling in love. In the series Smokers, I will be happy just to meet interesting people to interview", says Paddy.

"You meet smokers everywhere now, banished to the streets in every town and village in Ireland. Wherever I have worked since the smoking ban came in last year,  I have found myself talking to smokers. And you never know what people are going to talk about.  Asking about the smoking ban is, for me, just a way of introducing myself, like talking about the weather. But you don't know what people will tell you next and that's what I find fascinating about making radio programmes. In the series, radio listeners, like me, will never know what a programme is going to be about."
