Hello and welcome aboard this week’s edition of your maritime programme …..Seascapes … this week we hear about a recent gathering of Radio Officers from Colman Shaughnessy ; first to the annual awards ball of the Irish Sailing Association which took place last weekend in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire with the various categories covering ISA Sailor of the Year ; ISA Youth Sailor of the Year ; ISA Instructor of the Year ; Training Centre of the Year ; Volunteer of the Year and ISA Mitsubishi Motors Club of the Year; we also met up with James Espey from Ballyholme Yacht Club who had just arrived home from training in Australia – first lets hear from Kieran Mulvey of The Irish Sports Council ……..
Next to the ISA Youth Sailor of the Year sponsored by Quantum Sails – the nominees were Fionn Lyden of Baltimore Sailing Club; Finn Lynch of The National Yacht Club and Liam Glynn of Ballyholme Yacht Club – both Finn Lynch and Liam Glynn received the award we’ll hear first from Liam…..
Liams club Ballyholme Yacht Club are set to host the F18 World Championships this Summer we’ll hear more in the coming weeks from David Taylor……. Next to Liam’s co award winner Finn Lynch sporting a fine bow tie and no stranger to the annual event…
The ISA Sailor of the Year was supported by MGM Boats and the nominees were Philip Bendon of Glandore Harbour Yacht Club ;David Kenefick of Royal Cork Yacht Club and Annalise Murphy of The National Yacht Club with the award going for the third time to Annalise Murphy…… Also attending the awards ball was Laser sailor from Ballyholme Yacht Club – James Espey who had just returned from training in Sydney , Australia he talked to Seascapes about the schedule and young Glynn and Lynch….
Next here on Seascapes to the ISA Mitsubishi Motors Club of the Year and the nominees were Galway Bay Sailing Club; Howth Yacht Club; Lough Derg Yacht Club and Kinsale Yacht Club – with the award going to Kinsale after a remarkable year hosting the IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships and playing a major role in the rescue of those aboard the sail training vessel The Astrid …..we talked to the Commodore Finbarr O’ Regan ..
Next to the ISA Instructor of the year which was supported by Parasol Sun Care the nominees were Ben Fusco of Royal St George Yacht Club ; Emma Hett of Royal Cork Yacht Club; Will O Morchoe of Courtown Sailing club ; Jill Roy of the National Yacht Club and from Howth Yacht Club – Sail Training Manager at the club who received the award Graeme Grant…..
The ISA Training Centre of the Year featured Adventure Training Ireland ; Fastnet Marine OEC in Schull ; Malahide Yacht Club; The Oysterhaven Centre and Royal Cork Yacht Club –Seascapes talked to Miriam McMahon and Gavin Deane of Royal Cork moments after they received the award …
The Dublin Port Company sponsor the ISA Volunteer of the Year Award and this year the Award went to Geoff O Donoghue of Lough Derg Yacht Club – Seascapes talked to him about the spirit of volunteerism ........

The National Maritime Museum of Ireland in Dun Laoghaire was the venue a fortnight ago for a meeting of members of The Radio Officers Association – Seascapes met up with Colman Shaughnessy who explained the assembled gathering .......
