    Discussion and debate with Damien O'Reilly RTE presenter Sean Ban Breathnach spoke to Damien about his near drowning at Spanish Point in Clare last monday. Callers were annoyed at the cost of visiting the Cliffs of Moher , others felt the attraction was good value. The vote tonight on the Protection of life during pregnancy bill in the Dail was discussed . There was a further discussion on the quality of ambulance services including the air ambulance service.  Keith Stacey and other volunteers run a BMX cycling track in Cherry Orchard in Dublin. He fears the track may close for lack of funding.

    Nick is a is a Fianna Fail county councillor in Co Meath. In 1997 he worked as constituency manager for Mary Wallace who was then Minister for Disability. He rang in relation to figures published in the Irish Independent today......which revealed that since taking office in 2011, government ministers have sent almost a thousand letters to local authorities representing the issues of individual constitutents. He says ministers are given sufficient staff (back then it was usually 5-6 staff in most offices) plus constituency managers so if the Ministers are clever they can get their staff to handle most of their ...

    Kevin and Ned called in on the subject of pensions, particularly those awarded to politicians. Ned made the point that as a self- employed person he found himself in the position of having lost a lot of money through a pension and other investments and had no security of income , unlike retired politicians. The issue of what kinds of people become politicians was also raised, with Kevin making the point that it is mostly teachers lawyers and journalists.
