Over the weekend the revelations in the Irish Mail on Sunday – the somewhat unsurprising revelations – that Luke Ming Flanagan admitted taking A Class drugs, brought to the fore the debate over the decriminalisation of drugs. Few would dispute the fact that the war on drugs is not going well, both nationally and worldwide - the U.S. narcotics market is worth about $60 billion annually for example - but is decriminalisation or legalisation the answer?
