Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is to proceed with the development of 11 sites to provide 48 units of Traveller accommodation. Standards of fire safety, hygiene and overcrowding in State funded have been criticised in unpublished inspection reports across several centres. The report described people cooking with pan friers in their bedrooms, inadequate kitchen facilities as well as poor hygiene standards and breaches in child protection among other things.Paddy O’Gorman has been to one of these centres.
