The biggest news story of the week are the allegations that have come to light during a court case in London involving former assistants to Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi. It’s been claimed that Nigella had a daily cocaine habit. And we know that Nigella Lawson is a name synonymous with the “domestic goddess”. She put glamour into home cooking and gave many women something to aspire to. Now is her “brand” irrevocably damaged? Brand expert Pat Kinsley from Neworld Associates is in studio to discuss.
Last June pictures of Nigella Lawson and her millionaire art dealer husband with his hand around his wife’s throat were splashed all over the papers. Yesterday it emerged in court in the trial of sisters Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo who are accused of committing fraud while working as personal assistants to the couple that Mr. Saatchi had described his wife as a regular cocaine user. Enda Brady of Sky News joined Sean from London.
Many of you will have seen the photographs which appear to show Charles Saatchi’s grabbing his wife Nigella Lawson’s throat. He has now said that his actions were the result of a ‘playful tiff’ and that he was holding her by the neck to “emphasise” his point while they were having an intense debate about the children. Joining Miriam is writer and columnist Barbara Scully who wrote an interesting article about this in the Irish Examiner.
