    In seemingly encouraging news for mortgage holders in difficulty, AIB has written off €150,000 from a €400,000 loan on a family home and allowed the homeowners to keep their property. It is the largest writedown involving a family home which was not repossessed.     New Beginning

    Over a year ago Brian O’Connell reported from one of the first New Beginning conferences in Limerick about how the group of legal and other professionals were helping guide people through solving their debt problems. Since then, New Beginning has continued to travel the country offering advice as well as lobbying government for solutions to our debt problems. On Thursday last week, Brian returned to Limerick as New Beginning held a talk as part of a 30 venue Irish tour.

    The Irish Mortgage Holders Organisation (IMHO) in conjunction with AIB Group today announced an initiative offering homeowners in difficulty with their mortgage repayments the option to avail of an independent third party facilitator to advise and engage with AIB Group on their behalf.
