Today the Central Bank will release their quarterly figures on mortgage arrears. These figures will, for the first time, also include buy-to-let arrears. Minister Pat Rabitte said recently that, as far as he was concerned, the promissory note of €3.5 billion would not be paid, a sign perhaps that the government if taking a tougher line with our Europen masters. But next year banks will have a legal right to seize property for non- payment of mortgage debt. Finance Minister Michael Noonan said yesterday there are some "hurdles" to overcome but he believes there will be a deal for Ireland ...
