The Abuse Family
Survivors of child sexual violence reported that nearly 80% of children abused were abused by someone known to them – immediate family members, relatives or family friends. So when there is abuse in the family how does it skew the family dynamic. The President of Sinn Fein, Gerry Adams spoke to Marian Finucane on Saturday about his abusive father and how the he learned about it and how the family reacted. Joining Pat in studio was Dr. Mel Duffy, Lecturer in Sociology and Sexuality Studies DCU.
