In the High Court in Dublin this morning a 59 year old woman will challenge Ireland’s prohibition on assisted suicide. Marie Fleming will argue that Ireland’s 1993 law is unconstitutional because it discriminates against severely disabled individuals. Valerie Cox was at the Court.

Right to Die Supreme Court Judgement

Monday 29th April

The Supreme Court has just given its decision on the appeal by Marie Fleming against the rejection of her challenge to the ban on assisted suicide. The case centers on Marie Fleming who is the final stages of multiple sclerosis and wanted to be allowed to have her partner, Tom Curran, assist her in taking her own life at a time of her own choosing.
