    Marie O'Connor, Chairperson Survivors of Symphysiotomy, discusses today's demonstration over SoS's concerns over a new redress scheme. Statement from the Dept of Health: There are three groups representing survivors of symphiosotomy. Judge Yvonne Murphy has produced proposals for a redress scheme and is currently drawing up the final details. Two of the groups have already welcomed the scheme. Minister Varadkar has written to all the groups saying that he will meet them, but wants to have the final details of the scheme in place before that meeting.     Comments by Transport Minister Leo Varadkar and Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton have renewed pressure on Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan over his handling of the Garda whistleblower crisis. Mr Varadkar praised Sgt.Maurice McCabe for “shining a light in a dark place” while Minister Burton called on the Commissioner to withdraw his remark describing the behaviour of Garda whistleblowers as “disgusting”. Fionnan Sheahan from Irish Independent was on the line.
