    The Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the new leader of the Labour Party Tanaiste, Joan Burton sat down this morning for discussions on political priorities for the coalition government.  It’s expected that the Taoiseach will announce a major shake-up of cabinet portfolios in the coming days, with Fine Gael and Labour Ministers being re-shuffled and others in line for new appointments. Irish Times Political Correspondent Harry McGee and Katie Hannon of Prime Time spoke to Sean about the speculation and the rumours.

    Former Justice Minister Alan Shatter will return to the media spotlight this afternoon when he makes a statement on the plinth at Leinster House. It is expected that Mr. Shatter will announce whether or not he intends to accept the €70,000 severance payment to which he is entitled .     Garda Whistleblowing Controversy

    Another week has begun and the garda whistleblowing controversy shows no signs of abating with the Irish Times revealing today that garda sergeant Maurice McCabe first approached  the  authorities with his concerns back in 2008.  Meanwhile, Fianna Fail  has described the assertion by Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore that  the dossier handed over by Micheal Martin to the Taoiseach was “incomplete” as a “red herring”.
