The Health Bill 2012 relating to the supply and cost of medical goods is currently before the Oireachtas and is expected to be passed early this year. The new legislation is aimed at reducing the cost of medicines in Ireland. At the moment we spend about €2 billion a year on medicines, but less than €200 million on generics. How does this compare with other EU countries and how can we cut costs?
